3 Basic Pasta Dinner Ideas
by Kara Kelso

Pasta has got to be one of the best kid-friendly foods out there. You can do so much with it, and it's incredible cheap. For a little over a dollar, you can make a nutritious supper for your entire family.
Pasta comes in many forms and can be used for tons of different types of dinners. Since it's my son's favorite food, we have a pasta just about every week. While the main ingredient may be the same, the dishes are not.
Here's three easy ideas we've used in the past to make fantastic, healthy dinners or side dishes. Each dish can be used alone, or as a starter for your own creations.
- Spaghetti
The most obvious choice for a pasta-based meal for kids. You just can't go wrong with this meal. Buy or make your spaghetti sauce, cook your spaghetti noodles, and you're good to go. I've also used canned diced tomatoes for a half-spaghetti dish. Add your own spices to create a unique spaghetti, or "normal" additions like hamburger.
- Angel Hair Pasta
One of my favorites I've duplicated from a small box dinner. Cook your pasta and add butter, garlic salt, olive oil, and your choice of spices ( spices optional ).
- Homemade Mac & Cheese
Easy! Use macaroni pasta or shell pasta. Cook fully then add velveta cheese and milk slowly until it's to your liking. You can also add hamburger to this dish.
After you have your starter dish, let your imagination go wild! Don't be afraid to try new things - you never know what you will come up with!
