3 Ideas for a Beginner's Garden

While the kids are out playing, take a few minutes for yourself while keeping an eye on them at the same time.
A garden doesn't have to be seen as a bunch of work. Instead, think of you garden as your personal piece of the yard. Away from the swing set, the pool, power tools, and hordes of toys.
There are several different ways you can set up your garden, and it will mostly depend on your space and location. Some of these ideas are:
- Transfer Flowers
If you have flowers here and there already, see if you can transfer them to other areas. A perineal will sometimes spread quickly depending on the flower, so you can easily fill in bare spots with something that will spread.
- Get Starts
For a new addition, see what you can find at your local greenhouse or floral shop. Make sure what you get is something that will grow well with what you already have. Check with other family members as well, they may have starts for you!
- Annuals
Make a space just for annuals. That way you can have something different every single year! Don't be afraid to try new things. If the flowers you plant don't look great in the spot you planted them, no big deal. Just buy something different the next year!
Your husband might have claimed the garage and your kids a large chunk of the back yard, but the garden - it's all yours!
